Horror film is a genre that aims to create a sense of fear, panic, alarm, and dread for the audience. Though it has its own style, Horror film often overlaps into Fantasy, Thriller, and Science-Fiction genres.

The sound of kids laughing

INT. dark room - afternoon

We see a Man’s feet wearing black smart shoes. He is walking fast; his shoes make distinctive tapping sound.

We then hear children laughing again - the Man opens a doorknob slowly. He approaches a GIRL siting unconscious on a chair. She has been tied to the chair and she looks worn out... he picks up a glass of water already placed on the TABLE in front of her and Splashes it on her face- the girl wakes up. She had been dreaming of her family. She can’t see clearly the images are blurred. She comes back to her senses stares at the man wearing BLACK SUIT. She frowns...

                      

The girl

Where am I? Who are you? Where is my family?

 he ignores her questions

The man

WHERE IS IT?

 the girl frowns. She is bemused.

The Girl

Where is what? I don’t know what you talking about. Where am I?!

He leans over her putting both his hand on her chair.

The man

Stop playing with me! Tell me where the fuck is it!?

He leans forward. She spits at him... He wipes his face off and backhands the girl very hard. She screams. The man’s phone rings.

The man

She is a dead end. I don’t think we need her anymore.

He turns around walk toward the door; the door closes behind him; the girl keeps on screaming in the background.

Evil Dead is a horror film that was directed by Fede Alvarez and was released in 2013. It serves as a remake of The Evil Dead, and the first film in the series since 1992’s Army of Darkness. It is a reboot of the Evil Dead franchise, and therefore the fourth instalment. It is also loosely a sequel to the original series. Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, and Rob Tapert produced it. Bruce Campbell appears in a very brief cameo after the credits. The cast includes Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore. The running time in the movie is 92 minutes, and the budget for the Horror film was 17 million however it went on to make $97,542,952 from the box office.

The first shot displays the title of the movie "Evil dead". The opening of this sequence firstly starts of with a black screen however immediately the title "Evil Dead" shows in bold, red text with a non-diegetic crash sound which presents the film to the audience watching, giving a thematic suggestion giving the impression that it will be a very intense and startling story line.

The blood is pouring into every part of the building, involving a light bulb in a room, shown in the down below image. This illustrates the amount of the violence and gore in the film as the blood literally manages to go everywhere in the house. Choir singing can be heard, which is suitable for the theme of the film; there is a religious suggestion because a book is found that is likely to have belonged to a cult. The music also has a moderately fast pace that is reminiscent of heartbeat, or the sound of someone running, which foreshadows scenes in parts of the film.

In this scene we are shown a horrific murder taking place, we can easily understand it is a female due to the long hair. This makes us the viewer feel shocked because females tend to be the ones who are most vulnerable at times.  The weapon is a chainsaw, which is a weapon only used by crazy maniacs in serious times. This helps to add fear in the atmosphere, as the audience understand how erratic this serial killer can be.

In this scene of the Evil Dead we are shown a close up of a human flesh being heartlessly pierced through by a nail. This just shows us the audience how the Demon or Satanic creature is willing to do anything to finish off their victim. To go to that extreme length it just shows how brutal this Creature can be, and is something we as the audience should fear.
In this ferocious scene we the audience are stunned with a finger (on its on) being dropped on a puddle of blood.  With it being edited in slow motion we can clearly see all the bits within the finger, which we all wish we had never saw. This foreshadows the creature’s behaviour, as we then understand the Demon herself like to torture their victims first before inhumanly slicing them to death.

In this section of the scene we the audience are flashed with Satanic symbols, which again has great relation to the film (Evil Dead) as it is about Demons/Devils processing the human body. In this section of the scene we can only view them for half a second as they are constantly appearing and disappearing and helps create suspense.

Near the end of the opening we are shown the name of the main star of the film (Shilon Fernandez) . By showing this last to us, it will make us the audience understand he has a role in the film, which is important. 

This scene we are shown a blaze of fire as the music intensity increased.  This really helps create suspense in the atmosphere; it furthermore helps to symbolise destruction and chaos.
