Photos of: props, actors (before & after)
The Main prop that will really help
enhance our opening is the SPFX/CFX Zombie Mask. Is the Latex/Silicon
mask, which is something unknown to the public as it is just been recently
introduced. However it is a tool used most frequently in Hollywood films. You
may have spotted it in films such as Dawn of the Dead, The walking dead and
Shaun of the dead.
The next advance prop we will be
using is a Pivot head Durango Matte black 1080p Sunglasses Camera and Inventio
1080p HD Sunglasses camera. Both cameras that is spectacular for POV shots and
again something used frequently in Hollywood films.
Canon EOS 60D Camera
A current friend of mine, who is a professional actor and has starred in several known movies/commercials. I am very fortunate to be having him involved in my project and will be definitely giving him one of the main roles (Zombie).

Mesa Awan is a 18 year old girl who aspires to be a successful actress one day. She has completed her acting course for GCSE and is now currently doing it full time, she has worked very closely with well known directors and has the experience which we need. Due to her well known experience she will be given the main role for the opening of the film.

production role in the film opening- Camera Person
My production
role in the film opening would be of a camera person. According to my research
my main tasks would be to:
- · Read and digest the script
- · Discuss with the Director all aspects of the script
- · Discuss style of shooting
- ·
Recce
all locations· Review all set plans
- · Determine technical details such as – where tracks are to be laid, size of crane or dolly.
- · Determine type of heads – remote, fluid, geared or hand-held and tripods or tracking vehicle.
- · Shoot camera and lens tests
- · Check for any off-set items that may have crept onto the set such as lamp stands, cables and unwanted props or crew personal possessions.
- · Rehearse the scene and fine tune all camera moves.
- · Shooting involves the Operator looking through the eyepiece, panning and tilting the camera to follow the action.
- · After each take the Operator will be able to say or should say to the Director whether or not the shot was good technically.
- · As the Operator is the member of the crew who looks through and operates the camera he or she must be fully conversant with any type of head.
- · The essence of film-making is team work and the Camera Operator is right in the middle of it all, so he should be a good communicator
- · Check all the shots after filming to make sure it was fine.
Why did I choose this role?
·
I
chose this role because it was a new experience for me and I enjoyed doing it
when I played this role in my preliminary exercise. It is one of the most
important roles in the production process and I think I would be able to do it
very well.

Most horror films Production Company logos last between 3-4
seconds as they do not show the full company logo instead just a flash of the
logo. Some of them are moving images which attracts the audience giving it a
professional look. Mostly ‘cold’ colours such as shades of blue, black and
white are used that indicate the genre and help to build an eerie feel to the
opening sequence.

Audience Research – Secondary
I used the
Pearl and Dean website to get a breakdown of the audience turnout. According to
what I found out in my secondary audience research there were three films that
came out in the last 6 months. They are:
‘The Pyramid
(Released: 5th December 2014) this film
was watched most by the age group between 15-24 (28%) and was more popular
amongst male than female 57% men went to watch the movie. However the movie wasn’t
rated very well and did not get more than 2 star rating by cinema goers and one
of the people said that it was ‘Poorly lit and thinly writ’.Thus did not do very well on the Bo office and was rated 'C-'.
Annabelle (Released:
10th October 2014) this film is a spin off to 'The Conjuring' which did well on
the box office and most people went to watch this film because they enjoyed
watching the conjuring. However it did not do well in the box office and received
a rating of C. It attracted more women than men as audience.
The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (Released: 2nd January 2015) this film attracted mostly women (56%) than men and was rated C. Most people including me expected that it to be scarier than it actually was. Some people thought that it was almost an underwhelming effort and was not frightening. It received 3 star rating by the cinema goers.
Through my research
I have come to a conclusion that most horror films which have concepts of
ghosts and supernatural presence are watched by more females than men like ‘Annabel’.
Men prefer watching horror films including zombies and slasher films. Mostly
people under the age group of 15-24 prefer watching horror films and people
under the age of 15 do not watch horror films. Also most horror films target
youngsters rather than old people as they might end up having an heart attack
while watching the film.
